The timetable of the Conference 2012 will be updated.
Please note that this is a preliminary timetable. Activities may be changed without further notice according to availability and conditions.
1. Theme: Fostering Friendships (Day 1&2)
Conference Day 1 (August 4)
Participant Arrival: Chinese and Japanese participants will arrive on campus before dinner from the airport and/or across the border. Japanese and Chinese organizers will pick up the participants.
Registration: Participants will register their names, hand in all relevant forms and be guided to their rooms to settle down.
Campus Tour: Organizers will give campus tours of LPCUWC so that participants will be able to orient themselves on campus.
Welcoming Dinner (Gym/ Ma On Shan restaurant): Participants will attend a welcoming dinner where some speeches by organizers and supervisors will be held. If held in the gym at LPC, participants will wear their national costumes.

Introduction to the Conference (Dayroom): The facilitators will briefly go through the Conference aims and principles and then introduce the Discussion Group system.
Buddy Group: The Buddy Groups of 2 Chinese, 2 Japanese and 3 facilitators will break apart and meet each other in their specific rooms. They will introduce themselves to each other.
Letter Writing: Participants will spend a moment to write a personal letter to themselves which they will open at the end of the Conference. 
Organizer’s Meeting: Organizers will meet and discuss the next day’s agenda.
Conference Day 2 (August 5 )
Energizers: Participants will go through a morning exercise to wake themselves up for the day. This routine will occur every morning.
Trust-Building (Dayroom): Using the Initiative For Peace ‘name-games’ and icebreaker games, participants will have an opportunity to get to know each other informally and build up trust in a setting that emphasizes getting together for a common goal.
Language Exchange (Dayroom): Through a workshop by organizers introducing both Chinese and Japanese, participants will learn very simple greeting phrases which will provide them with a tool to open a conversation with each other.
Critical Thinking: Participants will have the opportunity to discuss everyday issues and the change to understand the importance of proper critical thinking. This session aims at improving the quality of future discussions instigated through different activities, hence forming a strong base for future actions.
2.Theme: Experiencing the Improvement at Present (Day3&4)
Conference Day 3 (August 6)
Guangdong Trip is now cancelled. Instead, we are organizing a program in Hong Kong.
5. Theme: Understanding through Dialogue (Day4)
Conference Day 4(August 7)
Cultural simulation: Participants will be led through a simulation game in which they will experience being in a different culture, which will be followed by a discussion on stereotyping and alienation, cultures and boundaries.
Guest lectures: Participants will have the chance to listen to lectures given by professors with much experience in the Sino-Japan relations. We plan to ask
Separate Discussions: Various workshops done by organizers will engage participants in Sino-Japan relations topics such as education, history, and economics that will be carried out in small groups, hence encourage the sharing of opinions and acquirement of new knowledge. Topics will range from their normal life encounters to in-depth topics. This will continue to be done for the next two- three days to further the participants’ awareness.
Media Bias: This one-hour session aims to introduce the concept of media bias in preparation for the History Timeline Session. The participants take part in two activities in order to better their understanding of bias.
History Timeline: The objective of this session is to use textbooks and the participants’ own knowledge to shed light on the different perspectives on historical events.
3. Theme: Visualizing the Future (Day5&6)
Conference Day5 (August 8 )
Day 6 aims to provide the participants with a taste of Hong Kong and its local culture. Hong Kong participants will take up the roles of guides. The day also provides more opportunities for bonding amongst the participants from different regions.
Dim Sum Lunch: Participants will have the opportunity to taste the local Hong Kong cuisine of Dim Sum which will be covered by the Conference.
Hong Kong Exploration: Participants will have a chance to explore Hong Kong for the afternoon to various locations such as the Tsim Sha Tsui harbour front to take a ride on the Star Ferry, Mong Kok Ladies Market to buy souvenirs and Central to see what the Hong Kong business district looks like. Organizers will provide guided tours or participants can tag along with the Hong Kong participants.
Elderly Visit: Cooperating with a local organization, participants will have an opportunity to do a community service. They will be in groups of 3 or 4 and visit a number of elderly homes in and around Kowloon City. They will present gifts of oranges and apples and have an opportunity to communicate with the elderly about their lifestyle.
Peace Commemoration: Participants will listen and share personal stories that they have heard about the war from family, friends, relatives on the day Japan surrendered in World War Two 65 years ago. A “Power Circle” will be created to offer a safe space where stories and emotions may be respected and understood. Lights will be turned off and a candle will be held by the person speaking.
Conference Day 6 (August 9)
Community Service: Participants will be introduced to the concept of Community Service in further detail and will have the opportunity to break it down and understand the importance of Community Service within society.
Initiative Proposal: Organizers will present projects that they themselves had initiated to offer examples of how participants can take this experience back home and try to make a change. Participants will be invited to identify “problems” of society that they wish they could change. Discussions will offer an opportunity for participants to share ideas of what they wish to initiate as part of post-conference commitment.
Final Presentation: Participants will work to bring together what they have learned throughout the conference and display short presentations. They will receive their Sino-Japan Youth Conference 2010 certificates at the end as a symbol of their achievement throughout the conference.
Cafe: Participants and organizers will spend the last evening together sharing their talents and culture through an informal show with snacks and music.
Conference Day 7 (August 10)
Departure: The participants will leave all rooms by noon. Japanese participants will be guided to the airport by Japanese organizers and made sure they get on their flights. Chinese participants will be dispersed from LPC and will be left up to them to reach home.
